Workshops Services

SSR operates two workshops on the east coast. Our Victorian workshop is based in Bendigo, with direct access onto the broad gauge rail network. Our NSW workshop is based in Lithgow with direct access onto the standard gauge rail network.

Road transporting rail assets to both workshops can also be a very cost-effective solution for major repairs (including accident and collision rebuilds), full strip down and rebuild overhauls or painting.

Both workshops provide field service maintenance using a combination of trucks, trailers, and work utility vehicles. Emergency maintenance and recovery call out services are also available.

Many SSR employees are cross skilled, with train drivers also qualified in various trades and locomotive maintenance to provide the right level of flexibility to meet our customer requirements.

For Your Every Requirement

From rollingstock maintenance to manufacturing, the team at SSR provides comprehensive services to the rail industry in Australia.

Bendigo

Beyond internal SSR work, SSR Bendigo Railway Workshop currently serves rail freight companies such as Pacific National, Aurizon (formerly QR National), GrainCorp, Qube Logistics, Metro Trains Melbourne, Bombardier and CFCL Australia.

Our Expertise

We specialise in providing rollingstock maintenance services for all of your existing assets and manufacturing capabilities for new locomotives and wagons. Being based in Central Victoria gives SSR the ability to provide services with ease. With a 10,000-square metre manufacturing facility on a 14-hectare site, as well as a second large maintenance facility located in Bendigo, SSR is well equipped to cope with growing industry demand.

With the establishment of our machining centre, we can offer an extensive range of CNC machining services. We use the latest equipment and manufacturing techniques to ensure our work is of the highest quality.

Lithgow

Lithgow Railway Workshop primarily provides maintenance support to the locomotives and wagons operated by SSR and other rail industry operators, together with external work including call-outs to equipment breakdowns, wagon and locomotive maintenance and repairs.
